This online minicourse is designed to provide a basic introduction and to help providers of reproductive health services incorporate a focus on HIV and AIDS into their services.

Reducing Stigma and Discrimination Related to HIV and AIDS: Training for Health Care Workers, EngenderHealth, 2004

This curriculum guides health workers to understand their own attitudes about HIV, AIDS, and individuals affected by these conditions and how these attitudes might affect the care they offer. It also provides a review of clients' rights and proper infection prevention techniques. A participant handbook is provided too. 

Voluntary Counseling and Testing Toolkit, Skills Training Curriculum, Facilitator's Guide, FHI, 2005

The VCT Toolkit is a collection of resources for developing, expanding and maintaining VCT services in resource-constrained countries. The toolkit is intended for governments, development partners and public- and private-sector organizations that establish HIV counseling and testing programs and services.

Sexual and Reproductive Health for HIV-Positive Women and Adolescent Girls: A Manual for Trainers and Program Managers, EngenderHealth, 2006

A four-day training and a two-day planning workshop, to enable program managers and health workers to provide comprehensive, nonjudgmental, and high-quality SRH care and support to HIV-positive women and adolescent girls.


Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV Infection (PMTCT) Generic Training Package, WHO/HHS-CDC, 2006Is a comprehensive, evidence-based course on the prevention of mother-to-child transmission in resource-constrained settings. The Package is designed to link and strengthen PMTCT services and existing training efforts. Trainer's and participant's manuals are the core of the Package and contain 9 stand-alone modules with interactive skills-building exercises and accompanying slides.

Topics in the Nursing Care of People Living with HIV/AIDS, Lucille Sanzero Eller, PHD, RN, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, College of Nursing and New York/New Jersey AETC, 2006

Five training modules designed to equip nurses working in a range of settings including doctor's offices, hospitals, ambulatory care and correctional settings, with the basic knowledge needed to provide safe, comprehensive care to clients with HIV/AIDS. Each module consists of trainee manual and slides set.

Monitoring HIV/AIDS Programs: A Facilitator's Training Guide, FHI, 2004

This training resource is designed to build skills for conducting quality monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities. The course is anchored by three core modules: Introduction to M&E; Collecting, Analyzing and Using Monitoring Data; and Developing an M&E Work Plan. 

Teacher’s Exercise Book for HIV Prevention, Guide for Educators, Development & Education Center, and the World Health Organization, 2004

The guide uses active learning activities such as role-playing, brainstorming, and small-group discussions to help teachers build their students’ skills around HIV/AIDS prevention and improve their own communication and advocacy skills.

These guidelines are designed to provide a "one-stop" reference to help public health officials set up and manage systems that provide reliable trends in HIV risk behaviors. Information is also provided to help those who will be implementing the surveys themselves.
